A dress that flirts

Turning bright red is one thing. Turning transparent is another. Exactly what the ‘Intimacy 2.0’ dress, designed by Daan Roosegaarde, becomes when whoever is wearing it becomes sexually aroused.

‘Intimacy 2.0’ is a high-tech fashion project exploring the relation between intimacy and technology. The high-tech garments entitled ‘Intimacy White’ and ‘Intimacy Black’ are made out of opaque smart e-foils that become increasingly transparent based on close and personal encounters with people. The dress’ smart e-foils can detect heartbeats. The speed of the heart determines the garments’ level of transparency, creating a sensual play of disclosure.

Roosegaarde said: “Technology is used here not merely functional but also as a tool to create intimacy as well as privacy on a direct, personal level which in our contemporary tech society is becoming increasingly important.”

Finally, all the cards will be on the table.
